AMC Club |

What is the AMC Club?
The AMC (Ammerman, Milligan, Copple) Club is our 4th grade management and incentive program. Students can earn or lose money in several ways. The goal of the club is to earn $7,000 each quarter in order to buy their way into an awesome quartly party.
WAYS TO EARN MONEY
Each day, the class starts out with $0 in class money. This is written on the board. Each individual student also starts the day with $200 "pocket money," which is handed out each morning by our class banker.
The class as a whole must make it to $500 to earn their full recess play time.
As a class, students can earn or maintain money by following directions, demonstrating teamwork, and active participation.
As an individual, students can earn or maintain money by going above and beyond expectations, being responsible with homework, showing leadership qualities, and demonstrating one or more of our school character traits.
WAYS TO LOSE MONEY
To earn class money, students can lose money when at least 50% of the class shows that they are not listening or following directions.
As an individual, students can lose money by not turning in homework, by not having reading log or agendas signed, or by being hurtful or disruptive.
ADDING IT UP
At the end of each day, students add their pocket money to their previous balance, and add that grand total to their registers.
SO WHAT?
Having a monetary incentive program helps students practice teamwork and personal responsibility, and it also introduces them to the "real world" of personal finance and responsibility. |

Q |
Snacks at School |
 |
A |
Students are welcome and encouraged to bring their own HEALTHY snack to school. Healthy snacks include things like 100 Calorie packs, fruit cups, pretzels, fruit or veggies, popped popcorn, granola bars, crackers, cereal, or applesauce, as examples. (If your child brings a fruit cup or applesauce, make sure they bring a spoon!)
If students want to bring in a healthy snack to share with about 26 students, they are always welcome to do so! Parents in the past have sent 100 Calorie packs, crackers, fruit snacks, or juice boxes, just to name a few! |

Daily Agendas |
 |
A |
Each week, on Monday afternoon at pack-up time, the students will write in their weekly learning targets. While we do have daily targets to go along with our studies, these weekly targets are the overarching targets that will help drive learning and instruction throughout the week. The students have four targets to write in their agendas -- reading, math, social studies, and character.
Each day of the week, the students also give themselves a "rating" on how they feel they did achieving those targets. Here is our rating scale:
Learning Target Self-Assessment
5 = I totally understand, I could teach it to a friend
4 = I mostly understand, I feel good about this
3 = I am getting there/I need some help
2 = I am having some trouble
1 = I do not understand/I am struggling
So, while they only write the targets themselves on Monday, they are still reflecting on their learning each day of the week. Our goal, of course, is to have most students at 4 or 5 for each target by Friday.
I ask for a parent signature on Thursdays so that you can check in wit your child regarding their learning targets and how they are feeling about their learning.
The learning targets are also posted under the "Weekly Learning Target" page here on our class website, as well as in each weekly newsletter. If your child does not get to finish adding his or her targets on Monday afternoon, you can support us by helping them finish writing at home on Monday evenings.
The other thing that should be written every night is their homework. Homework will almost always be their Weekly Skill Page (WSP), as well as whatever math homework they may have from class. Other notes and important information will be written in as needed.
Thanks for helping your student become a reflective learner! |
