Answers
1)  Q When should my child stay home from school?
A
Keep your child home from school for a fever of 99.6 F or higher. This temperature should be taken when no anti-fever medications have been administered. IE. Tylenol, Ibuprofen. Your child should also stay home from school for 24 hours after fever has broken and diarrhea and vomiting have subsided. If your child is uncharacteristically cranky, tired, or pale, then they should stay home. If your child has an unexplained /undiagnosed rash, itchy, red eyes with yellow-green matting/discharge, bad cough, lice, an unusually sore throat, or bad stomach ache, then they should stay home.

Communication with the school concerning your child's health is the best "ounce of prevention" you can administer. Please feel free to call with any questions or concerns you may have at 422-4036.

Any time your child is absent, please call the school and inform us of the illness.
2)  Q What is required for my child to receive prescription medications during school hours?
A
A Consent for Prescription Medications form needs to filled out by your child's Doctor for your child to be able to take prescription meds at school. You must also sign this form giving the nurse permission to give the documented medication. The doctor needs to fill out the name of the medication, the dose of the medication, time and route to be given, as well as the duration to be given. The medication must then be brought to the school by you in its original container with the prescription label affixed to it. Consent for Prescription Medications can either be downloaded from the Document Manager tab on this website or you can obtain one from the school nurse.
3)  Q Can I send in a medication that is not on the approved list of over-the-counter medications with my child if I sign a note permitting it to be given at school? Example- Cough syrup, Allergy medicine
A
No, the district has only approved the medications listed on the over-the-counter medication sheet. If your child needs to take a medication that is not listed on this sheet then you have two options.

The first option is for you to have your doctor fill out the prescription medication sheet, duration of medication, time of day to be given, dosage of medication, and route of medication. You too would also have to sign in order for the medication to be given. You would need to follow the same guidelines as if this were a prescription medication.

The second option is for you to come up to the school and administer the medication yourself.
