Spring Break Energy Contest! Why is it so important I get everything turned off AND unplugged for Spring Break? Isn't it enough to just turn off my equipment? These are good questions and deserve a good answer. Even when many items like televisions and computers are turned off they are still using power to keep selected components running. These electrical loads are known "vampire loads" because they drain energy even when the equipment is sleeping or off. It isn't a lot of energy, usually in the range of 3-5 watts each, but when you have 100s of computers it adds up fast. Even more important is shutting down your heating system over the long break. We see tremendous savings over these extended break periods when everyone works together on Friday night to get things properly shut down. It is quite literally thousands of dollars in savings. Look for your Shutdown Checklist in your mailbox today and please do what you can to help keep our costs down. Our contest for today is all about our Spring Break. Answer the question below to complete your entry! Our winner will be announced when we return on Monday, March 22nd. Good Luck! |
