Any individual may make a gift to the Foundation in honor of a teacher, principal, coach, student or volunteer. Honor gifts may also be made for special occasions, such as birthdays, graduations or anniversaries. These gifts may be made by mail, phone or via our website.
Donations may be made to the BSEEF in memory of a loved one who has passed away. These gifts can be made to the general fund of the Foundation or they can be designated for a special purpose or scholarship. There are several scholarship funds presently established to which a donor may contribute. A donor may also establish a new scholarship or designated fund. Gifts of $10,000 or more can be "named" and serve as ongoing scholarships. Other donations will become part of the general scholarship fund. Please contact the Foundation Office for additional information or donate online now via our secure Give2Schools site.
Legacy Gifts/Planned Giving Planned giving is both a rewarding and satisfying way to create a legacy of support for our students. Present and future generations will be positively impacted by specific planned giving activities. Please review the following list of "legacy gifts:"
Bequests through a Will Life Insurance Charitable Remainder Trusts Memorials (Including Naming Rights) and Endowments Charitable Lead Trusts Retirement Accounts and Pension Funds Real Estate Appreciated Stock
Bequest through Will or Living Trust One of the most popular and significant ways to make a gift that will serve as a legacy for future generations is the creation of a contribution through a will or living trust. The designation of a gift for Foundation can also reduce your estate taxes. Bequests offer you the flexibility of designating a specific purpose or endowment for your gift. Here is a sample bequest that you may review and share with your attorney:
"I give to the Bonnner Springs - Edwardsville Education Foundation, a non-profit corporation for charitable and educational purposes, in Bonner Springs, Kansas:
(Cash Bequest) …the sum ______ dollars ($_____). (Stock Bequest) … shares of common stock of _______ Corporation (Percentage of Estate) … ____percent (_____%) of the residue of my estate
I request the bequest be used by the Bonner Springs - Edwardsville Education Foundation for the following purpose:
______________________. I direct that no federal estate tax or state death taxes be allocated or paid from this bequest. If you wish to restrict your bequest to a specific school, scholarship or grant program, contact the Foundation Office to determine the wording that will ensure its use according to your intentions. We understand that one of the greatest donor concerns is that the donor gift be used in the exact manner that they intended. |
