School Bus Conduct & Safety:

Transportation personnel make transportation eligibility and regulations available to every student.  You and your parents should be knowledgeable about this information.

The school bus is an extension of the classroom and therefore requires appropriate conduct at all times. All code of conduct policies are to be followed on the buses and are subject to the same consequences for misbehavior.

Students are subject to disciplinary action for misconduct on school busses.  The riding privilege of a student may be revoked for violation of the rules or for conduct which is detrimental to the safe operation of the school bus.  Student may also be subject to long or short-term suspension or expulsion.

Proper conduct includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Students are deemed to be under the jurisdiction of the school from  the time they step on the bus until they return home from school at the close of the regular school day.
  • Be prompt in reporting to your bus pickup points.
  • Wait for the bus at a designated pickup point on the right side of the road.
  • Take a seat quickly after entering the bus.
  • Except for ordinary conversation, students shall observe quiet conduct on the bus.
  • Students shall stay in their seats while the bus is in motion.
  • Students shall not have food or drinks on the bus.
  • No part of the body shall be extended through the bus window (s).
  • Students shall not leave the bus from the emergency door unless an emergency exists.
  • Written parental permission is required for a student to ride home with another student.
  • Report to the driver any offensive or destructive behavior that you experience or observe on the bus.

Help make the ride safe and enjoyable for everyone.  Assume your share of responsibility for eliminating the kind of behavior on the bus that may make your ride dangerous.  Fighting, throwing objects, excessive noise, etc. make it impossible for the driver to concentrate on making your ride the safest possible.
