Varsity Head Coach- Dan Streit

Coach StreitCoach Streit enters his 1st season as the Head Boys Coach at BSHS.  He has served the past two seasons as the Head Assistant Coach under Former Coach Andy Price.  Prior to coming to Bonner Springs in 1999, Coach Streit served as a head coach at Wilson Jr. High School in Wilson, KS, and as the head varsity coach at Bennington High School in Bennington, Ks, compiling a 44-21 overall record (1995-1998).  He also spent a year in Missouri as an assistant.  Coach Streit initially joined Coach Jim Bonar's staff at BSHS during the 2000 season as the Freshman Coach, but was elevated to JV coach the following year on Coach Price's staff.  Coach Streit also serves the district as the head football coach at Clark Middle School.  Coach Streit is married to his wife Karen (a Basehor native), and with their three children reside in Bonner Springs.

 

“Some people are writing us off due to the large senior class we graduated this past season...but I wouldn't be so quick to agree.  We return starter Jordan Jackson, along with center Tyler Howell and some other pieces...add in a transfer or two and we will surprise a lot of teams this year."


 

Varsity Assistant Head Coach - Bill Downing
 

Coach DowningCoach Downing brings 19 years of coaching experience to the Braves, serving as an assistant in track and a head coach in cross country. He is serving his third stint with the basketball programs at Bonner as an assistant, having coached both the Freshman boys and JV boys teams.  This year he moves up to take the Head Varsity Position left open by Coach Streit's promotion. He is a 1988 graduate of Bonner Springs High School and competed in cross country, basketball and track at Bonner. Downing competed in track while attending Kansas City Kansas Community College and the University of Kansas. Coach Downing has one son, Ryan, who attends Clark Middle School.

Varsity Assistant / JV Coach - Adam Loeker


Coach Leoker joins the Braves basketball program as a first year

coach taking over the Junior Varsity Program.  He is a graduate of

Kansas State University, as well as Hutchinson Community College.

He pitched collegiately while in Hutchinson His basketball background includes two trips to Class 5A State while attending McPherson High school.  He also made a trip to Class 5A State baseball.

Varsity Assistant / Freshman Coach - Anthony Brown

 

 

2007 graduate of Bonner Springs High School where Brown competed and was a 4 time letter-winner for football, Basketball and Track earning All-Conference nods in both Football and Basketballl. Brown was a member of the 2004-2005 Kaw Valley League Championship team coached By Andy Price, Dan Streit and Bill Downing. Anthony received a Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in history from Truman State University. During Brown's time at Truman Anthony was a 4 year letter-winner for the Bulldogs earning an All-MIAA Conference nod his senior year. Currently  Brown ranks in the top 10 all-time for school receiving yards.

8th Grade Head Coach - BJ Congleton

 

Coach CongletonCoach Congleton is entering his third year as the 8th grade head coach, and his seventh year coaching in the district. In 2005-06 Coach Congleton got his start coaching the freshmen team as a member of Coach Andy Prices’ coaching staff. Congleton was then promoted to the junior varsity coach under head coach Ryan Hull from 2006-2010. Congleton is a 7th grade social studies teacher at Clark Middle School, and a graduate of the University of Kansas. He spent his freshmen year of college, playing basketball at Barton County Community College where the team advanced to the National Tournament, eventually finishing 7th place. Coach Congleton is married to Shannel, a third grade teacher in the Desoto School District, and the couple is expecting their first child in May.

8th Grade Assistant Coach - Clark McCracken

 

Coach McCrackenCoach McCracken is entering his second year as the 8th grade assistant coach.  He is currently the Varsity football Defensive Coordinator and an assistant baseball coach.  McCracken is an 8th grade English teacher at Clark Middle School, and a graduate of the University of Kansas where he played football.  He has a wife, Lindsay, and four children:  Emma (4), Sienna (3), and Crosby and Chloe (8 months).

 

7th Grade Head Coach - Trent Dean

 

Coach DeanCoach Dean enters his 9th season as the 7th grade boys basketball coach.  Coach Dean received a degree in Education from Baker University and is currently teaching middle school Physical Education at Clark.  During his time at Baker he played on the basketball team.  Coach Dean also played one year at Neosho County Community College before attending Baker.

 


7th Grade Assistant Coach - Justin Smith

 

Coach SmithJustin Smith is starting his 8th year as the 7th grade assistant Coach. He teaches Spanish and ESL at Clark Middle School. He and his wife Nicole have two children, Mia and Fletcher.
