Bonner
Springs High School SADD is getting mad about distracted driving. So
we have decided to do something about it. And we need your help.
Log onto
http://www.actoutloud.org
and watch the Bonner Springs HS SADD video, and vote. Each person is
allowed one vote EACH DAY through May 21. So vote TODAY!
The
neat thing about this is Bonner Springs High School is the only school
in the State of Kansas involved in this project. Together we can help
make Kansas roadways safer for ALL Kansans. Did we mention that this
project has the potential to bring financial resources to USD 204, but
the main benefit is that Kansas roadways will be safer.

Ed Next Research Finds NCLB Has Produced Substantial National Gains In Math Skills
educationnews.org
How has the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act affected student achievement? This is no idle question, as the landmark federal law is long overdue for reauthorization. The Obama administration has recently urged Congress to add the issue to its already crowded 2010 agenda, even going so far as to include an additional $1 billion for K-12 education in its budget proposal if the law is reauthorized this year (a wholly symbolic gesture, given that it is Congress that sets spending levels, but one that indicates the administration's priorities).

malapert
MAL-uh-purt, adjective:
1. Unbecomingly bold or saucy.
noun
:
1. A malapert person.
"There never was a man so plagued as I am with a malapert knave! The fellow is shrewd, and I have found him faithful -I believe he loves me too, and he has given proofs of it-but then he is so uplifted in his own conceit, so self-willed and so self-opinioned, that he seems to become the master and I the man- and whatever blunder he commits, he is sure to make as loud complaints, as if the whole error lay with me, and in no degree with himself." -- Sir Walter Scott, The fortunes of Nigel, Volume 1
To this end I should have sent it off much sooner, had it not been for the account of some malapert agent who attempted to slander and condemn the work coming my way most unexpectedly at the very moment when I was finishing my perusal thereof. -- Jan Trefulka, A Czech Fairy Tale
Malapert
relates to the Old French mal apert, "ill-skilled," which means malapert and expert share a common ancestor.
