2022 Honorees
Jill Holder, who retired at the end of the 2020 school year, is known as an amazing teacher, mentor, and leader at Bonner Springs High School. In her illustrious 34-year career, Mrs. Holder impacted thousands of lives while teaching English and Journalism. Mrs. Holder cultivated a space for students to share their voices, opinions, and ideas. Students thrived under her guidance and her legacy will last a lifetime. She led the journalism students to four KSPA State Awards and many All-Kansas Awards. Mrs. Holder helped students reach their full potential, developing meaningful relationships and inspiring students to achieve at a high level. Rick Moulin, Assistant Superintendent for USD 204, was one of Mrs. Holder's former students and credits her for his own journey into the teaching profession.  "Mrs. Holder had a tremendous impact on my life. She instilled confidence in me and was one of the main reasons I became a teacher. I think every teacher hopes to have the kind of profound impact on students and the teaching profession that Mrs. Holder had. Summer Ney, BSHS Yearbook Editor from the class of 2017 said, "Mrs. Holder's impact on me will last a lifetime. The work I did in her classroom sparked something in me that forever changed the course of my life."

Mrs. Orangkhadivi, who retired at the end of the 2020 school year, is known as a champion for students with exceptionalities. In her remarkable 39-year career, she dedicated 37 years to teaching at Bonner Springs High School and ultimately impacted thousands of lives. Students flourished under Mrs. O's leadership. Her ability to relate to students, incorporate humor, and her unwavering support made a tremendous impact on helping students not only graduate from high school, but find successful post secondary endeavors. Jerry Hoffine, Bonner Springs High School graduate of the class of 1987, is a successful business owner and credits Mrs. Orangkhadivi for keeping him on track in high school. "Mrs. O is the person who kept me grounded and focused. I wasn't the best student, but she believed in me and mentored me. Without her, I would not have graduated." In addition to her work with individual students, Mrs. O was a leader on the BSHS staff. When students struggled, Mrs. O was the person her peers went to for guidance. She was a mentor to her fellow teachers and was an expert in helping others connect with students. Her patience and ability to stay calm, regardless of the situation, helped cultivate the culture at BSHS. Shawna Stevenson, who is the Special Education Department Chair for BSHS, says "I would not have survived my first year of teaching without Mrs.Orangkhadivi. She was a great mentor and support and always had the right answers."
