Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) and Kansas Statute K.S.A 72-5132 define a 4-year-old is a child who is 4 years of age on or before August 31, 2023 and a 3-year-old is a child who is 3 years of age on or before August 31, 2023. Students who are 5-years-old before August 31, 2023 are not preschool eligible.

Qualifications for 4 Year Old No Fee Preschool Program - McDanield Preschool Center 

  • Must be 4 years old on or before August 31st, 2023
  • Living within the USD 204 boundaries, proof of residency required

Meet one or more of the following:

  • Qualifies for free meals under the National School Lunch Program on September 20th, 2023
  • Custodial parent is unmarried on the first day of school
  • Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) referral
  • At least one parent was a teenager when the student was born
  • At least one parent is lacking a high school diploma or GED on the first day of school
  • Limited English proficiency (the student must qualify for ESOL services)
  • Lower than expected developmental progress from a child school screening
  • Migrant status copy of certificate of eligibility on file
  • Child experiencing homelessness 

Delaware Ridge Elementary Tuition Based Preschool

  • Age 4 on or before August 31st, 2023
  • Living within the USD 204 boundaries, proof of residency required
  • Hours are 8:30 AM to 3:40 PM, Monday-Friday when school is in session
  • The district does not provide transportation
  • A $50 tuition deposit is required
  • $500 per month tuition is required by the 1st of each month. Failure to pay the tuition by the 5th day of each month will result in the child's removal from the program. This preschool program has an annual rate of $5,000 per year, divided by the number of months of the school year (10) opposed to a daily rate.  
  • Tuition also includes breakfast and lunch fees.
  • Enrollment applications will be accepted until all slots are filled. If all slots are filled, you may request to be placed on a waiting list. Only completed enrollment packets will be considered.

USD 204 Head Start

  • Family must Income Qualify
  • Age 3 or 4 by August 31, 2023
  • Living within the USD 204 boundaries, proof of residency required
  • Hours are 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM
  • Transportation is provided
  • Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are provided daily through Child and Adult Care Food Program
  • There are no fees for Head Start
