Clark Middle School students Olivia Beets, Braelyn Kimberly and Kiernee Torline, alongside Bonner Springs High School FACS Teacher and FCCLA Sponsor, attended the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) 2022 National Leadership Conference in San Diego this summer. FCCLA’s 2022 NLC drew more than 7,500 members, advisers, and supporters from across the nation with opportunities for personal development, career exploration, and community service. Of these 7,500 members, almost 400 of them represented the State of Kansas.

Throughout NLC, attendees heard from keynote speakers and participated in leadership workshops. Students participated in competitive events through their district, state and eventually moved onto Nationals. Those who were able to move onto the National level were able to present their project during National Leadership Conference in San Diego. Braelyn Kimberly finished in the top 10 in the National Programs in Action category and Olivia Beets and Kiernee Torline placed second in the Nation during the 2022 National Leadership Conference.

FCCLA members also received the opportunity to network with fellow youth leaders and learn more about future career and college options through exploring the career pathways of Human Services, Hospitality and Tourism, Education and Training, and Visual Arts and Design.
